Eunice Mary Ennis, the daughter of Patrick J. and Hannah (Hood) Ennis, was born October 18, 1912 at Clare, Iowa. Eunice was a young girl when she and her brothers and sisters moved with their parents to the Humboldt area. She attended St. Mary’s High School for two years, graduated from Humboldt High School. Following her graduation, Eunice began working for the District Sales Office of DeKalb Agricultural Association as a bookkeeper and secretary. She remained in that position until her marriage to Dale Fraser. She then assisted him in his sales work with seed corn, fertilizer, and seed treatments and also as bookkeeper for Fraser Farm Corporation.
In 1963, Eunice and Dale purchased the turn of the century Mary H.S. Johnson residence and spent a year remodeling and redecorating before moving into the home. She and Dale attended many antique sales and Eunice refinished most of the furniture for their home. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states, except Alaska, and many foreign trips. She served as a board member of the local women’s group, enjoyed her volunteer work and was active in community projects. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish where she served as a lay minister, member of the financial board, and vice president of St. Mary’s Society.
Eunice is survived by her sister, Mary Callahan of Humboldt; brother, Joe Ennis of Humboldt; many nieces and nephews; and step-granddaughter, Mary Moffitt of Altadena, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; and stepdaughter, Phyllis Moffitt.
