Evonne Marie Thompson, the daughter of Andrew and Lillie (Hamlow) Thompson, was born November 6, 1937 on a farm near Hardy, Iowa. She received her education in Corinth Township country school and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1956. Following her education, Evonne worked in the Eateria before joining the ASCS Office in Humboldt. On September 15, 1957, she was united in marriage to Farrell Dean Cooper of Bode at the Zion Lutheran Church in Beaver Township. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Humboldt until moving to Dexter, Minnesota for a short time. Returning, they made their home on their farm in Corinth Township.
Mr. Cooper passed away in May of 1994 and Vonnie continued her work at the ASCS until her retirement in 1997. She loved the outdoors, especially caring for her yard, flowers, chickens, ducks, and geese. Vonnie was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the LWML. She spent many hours volunteering at the Humboldt Care Center North and for the Humboldt County Food Pantry. She enjoyed helping Kyle raise his pigs and took care in giving names to the runts of the litters.
