Florence L. Haynes, 95, of Humboldt passed away December 2, at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 Thursday evening at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Florence Luella Lansing, the daughter of Ambrosias and Anna (Swenson) Lansing was born March 24, 1913 at Bode, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Bode and following her education took up work as a nurse. On July 16, 1937 she was united in marriage to Keith Haynes at Fairmont, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Rolfe where Keith and Florence owned and operated the grocery store. In 1956 the Haynes family moved to Humboldt and Florence worked as the supervisor of the Floral Hall at the fairgrounds. In 1967 she opened Florence’s Used Clothing Store and continued to operate that until her retirement in 1985. Mr. Haynes passed away in 1986 and Florence maintained the home, entertaining guests until moving to the Humboldt Care Center North.
Mrs. Haynes was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran church where she was active in church circles and other activities. She enjoyed baking, playing scrabble, 500 and loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by her daughter, Bea-Anne (Don) Rittgers of Rolfe; son, Kent (Stephanie) of Livermore; grandchildren, Celeste (John) Schenone, Tammy (Mark) Thompson, Joel (Dianna) Haynes, Brenda (Alan) Dudley, Dave (Janell) Rittgers, Rhonda (Steve) Gustafson, and Donna (Steve) Tisue; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Keith; and 9 brothers and sisters.
