Frances J. Zeman, 97, of Humboldt, passed away January 27, 2014 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Christy Ehrle officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Frances Josephine Bowen, the daughter of Will and Rose (Webb) Bowen, was born December 29, 1916 on a farm near Bradgate, Iowa. She was raised and educated at Bradgate where her family attended the United Methodist Church. She was united in marriage to Milford Zeman on August 1, 1937. The couple farmed the family farm together, eventually purchasing it. In 1981, they moved to Humboldt where they were faithful members of the Faith United Methodist Church. Mr. Zeman passed away in January of 1998 and Frances continued to maintain her home until moving to Springvale Independent living in 2003. She became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North in October of 2011.
Frances was active in United Methodist Women and played the piano for the Bradgate Methodist Church. She was a member of the Maple Lawn Country Club and enjoyed embroidery and sewing.
Mrs. Zeman is survived by her children, Robert Zeman of Bradgate, and Phyllis Hansen of Eagle Grove; grandchildren, Jon (Lisa) Zeman of Bradgate, Susan Zeman of Dakota City, Tracy (Tom) Hansen-Crees of Goldfield, Tony Hansen of Des Moines, Angie (Jeff) Pagel of Webster City, and Kelly (Jeff) Grandgeorge of Eagle Grove; 10 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milford; an infant son, Merle; sister, Mildred Plucar; and brother, Donald Bowen.
