Garmon L Rolland, 84, of Humboldt, formerly of Bode, passed away Saturday July 3 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode with the Rev. Paul Breddin officiating. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Rolland is survived by his wife, Joyce of Humboldt; sons, Michael of Humboldt and Larry of Peoria, AZ; daughters, Paula of Fort Dodge and Sandy Olson of Livermore; grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Rolland, Emily (Justin) Shapiro, Joel (Carla) Rolland, and Deanna Rolland; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Ty, and Kaitlyn Rolland; brother, Conrad (Mary) Rolland of Roland. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Paul Rolland.
Garmon L. Rolland, the son of Leo and Gladys (Olson) Rolland, was born November 30, 1925 on the family farm near Bode. He was raised and educated in the Bode area. On December 15, 1947 he was united in marriage to Joyce Olson. The couple made their home on the farm near Bode where Garmon farmed and also worked at the Bode Elevator and later Gunder Church Manufacturing. In 1985 Garmon retired and he and Joyce moved to Arizona where they worked part-time at the local elementary school and Baptist Church. In March of 2010 the Rolland’s moved back to Iowa where they made their home at the Humboldt Care Center North.
Mr. Rolland was a member of the St.Olaf Lutheran Church of Bode and was also a Volunteer Firefighter. He was known to be a hard worker and loved spending time with his family.
