Garold A. "Gut" Schulze

Garold A. “Gut” Schulze, 87, of Humboldt, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on Saturday evening, February 24, 2024.

He was born July 24, 1936 in Fort Dodge, the son of Arnold and Merium (Friesth) Schulze.  Gut was raised on the family farm and attended Humboldt Schools.  He was united in marriage to Glenda Rood and the couple had two sons, Dean and Dan.  Gut maintained his home on the family farm his entire life.  He was married to Susan C. Phillips on October 31, 1998 in Humboldt.  Along with farming, Gut drove school bus for the Humboldt Community School District for over twenty-five years.  He enjoyed kindergarten kids and driving the softball teams to their games.  He played slow pitch softball in Humboldt and the surrounding area for many years.  On weekends you could find him on the dragstrip in Humboldt with his ‘50 Olds.  He also belonged to the Eagle Grove Cruisin’ Eagles and enjoyed their many trips. 

Garold is survived by his wife Susan of Humboldt, his son Dan (Susan) Schulze of Littleton, Colorado, his step-son Sean (Heidi) Phillips of Dakota City and step daughter Carol (Bill) Miller of Bode, his grandchildren; Jack Schulze, Sarah Schulze, Steven Schulze, Jennifer Stevenson, Derek Schulze, Caleb Daughenbaugh, Katelyn Phillips, Gauge Miller, Austin Phillips, Riley Phillips and River Phillips, two great-grandchildren Samuel & Molly Stevenson and his sister Sharon Schulze of Dakota City.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dean and sister Audrey Kramer.

Public visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27^th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Family funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery.   www.masonlindhart.com
