Gary Allen Schultz, 67, of Algona, passed away December 19, 2010 at his home in Algona. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Algona. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church and 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Gary is survived by his wife, Linda of Algona; brothers, Kim Schultz of Bradgate and Dean Schultz of Humboldt; sisters, Beverly Schultz of Fort Dodge, JoAnn (Ivan) Henricks of Pioneer, and Rhonda (Bob) Schultz of Fort Dodge; 4 nieces and nephews; and 6 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Greg Schultz; and his nephew, James Henricks.
Gary Allen Schultz, the son of John L. and Doris E. (Wallace) Schultz, was born September 8, 1943 at Humboldt, Iowa. He was raised and educated at Bradgate and Gilmore City, graduating from Gilmore City High School in 1961. He received training as a draftsman in Oklahoma and went to work with his father in the family construction business. In 1976, he was united in marriage to Linda Hunt at Algona. The couple made their homes in the communities of Ottosen, Gilmore City, and Bradgate before moving to Algona in 2000. In 1985, Gary received his CDL and began his career as a truck driver, joining Smithway Motor Express in 1995. Following his retirement, Gary was employed by K-Mart in Algona. He was a member of a Science Fiction Book Club and a Handyman’s Club.
