Gerald R. Gardner, Jr., 66, of Humboldt, passed away March 5, 2018 at his home. Private family services will be at a later date.
Gerald Roy Gardner, Jr., the son of Gerald Roy and Mary Gardner, was born May 25, 1951 at Creston, Iowa. He was raised at Diagonal, Iowa and graduated from Diagonal High School. He then attended a trade school at Creston before moving to Humboldt. On May 4, 1974, he married Joan Craig and to this union two children were born, Kelly and Jody. The marriage was later dissolved. Gerald worked as a crane operator for Sande Construction in Humboldt for many years. He then established Jerry’s Welding, which he owned and operated for several years before going to work for The Chantland Company until his retirement.
Gerald enjoyed hunting and was an avid nature watcher, tracker, and scout. He loved old cars and enjoyed going to the races. He is survived by his children, Kelly (Karmen) Gardner of Pella and Jody Lehman of Dakota City; grandchildren, Olivia and Maddex Lehman; brother, Richard Smith of Omaha, NE; and sisters, Linda (Roger) Shaw of Red Oak, Pat (Larry) Teply of Diagonal, and Lynn (Dale) Gray of Milan, MO.
