Glen Moore, 94, of Humboldt, passed away July 28, 2010 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Glenn Moore was born February 19, 1916 at Clayton, Illinois. He received his education there and following his graduation from high school, attended Gem City Business School at Quincy, Illinois. On August 1, 1936, he was united in marriage to Reva Fern Mixer. He joined Cameron and Joyce Construction Company and traveled throughout the Midwest. While in Eastern Iowa, Glenn formed a partnership establishing Midwest Limestone. In 1942 the family moved to Rutland, Iowa and began quarrying operations. Beginning in 1943, Glenn served in the United States Army under Gen. McArthur’s office in the Philippines. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and settled in Gilmore City. He and Reva made their home in Gilmore City until 2003 and in October of 2008, Mrs. Moore passed away.
Glenn was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and a long time member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Iowa Limestone Producers Association where he served as a past board member. In later years, he and Reva took up the game of golf and enjoyed winters spent in Arizona.
Mr. Moore is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Susan Moore of Des Moines and his brother Kenneth Moore of Hannibal, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Reva.
