Glenn Galen Wigans, 90, of Humboldt passed away August 26, 2015 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29 at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, the Reverend Alberta Ervin officiating. There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Glenn Galen Wigans, known by many as “Bud”, the son of Roy and Celia (Speich) Wigans, was born on a farm near Renwick on September 17, 1924. He attended the Vernon Consolidated School and graduated in 1942. He farmed with his father until being drafted into the Army in May of 1944. He served as a forward observer with the 392nd field artillery of the 42nd Rainbow Division in the European Theater, earning the Bronze Star. He remained with the occupational forces until his honorable discharge in June of 1946. On June 29, 1947 he was united in marriage to Irma E. Alexander. They farmed in the Thor area until his retirement. Glenn was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt.
He was preceded in death by his parent, sisters Genevieve Bohannon and Gladys Metzinger, brothers Gerald and Gail. He is survived by Irma, his wife of 68 years; daughters, Sheryl (Gary) Olsen of Nodaway, Iowa and Luann (Bill) Dencklau of Dakota City; sons, Terry (Colleen) of Thor and Craig (Janelle) of Goldfield; nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Glenn passed away August 26 at the North Care Center where he had been a resident since July 2014.
