Gordon D. Kirchhoff, 84, of Humboldt, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
Gordon was born February 27, 1935, son of Leonard and Ruth (Holst) Kirchhoff, in Fort Dodge, IA. He was raised in Beaver Township and attended school there. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1953. He met the love of his life at a church dance and was married to Bertha Kopecky March 31, 1956 in Farnhamville, IA. They made homes in Livermore, Rinard, Humboldt where he worked for Chantlands. They moved to the farm in 1969 and milked cows and farm the land with his father. Gordon was also involved in DHIA testing, feed and seed sales. He was actively involved in tractor pulling and was a Technician for the Outlaw Tractor pulling Association and he was inducted into the Iowa Tractor Pulling Association Hall of Fame. He was also a longtime member of the Humboldt County Fair Board and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish him, his wife: Bertha (Bert) Kirchhoff, there 4 children: Larry (Cheri) Kirchhoff Humboldt , Karen (Rich) Boever Bancroft, Colleen (Scot) Slaikeu Dakota City, Kevin (Wendy) Kirchhoff Pocahontas, Grandchildren: Jim Kirchhoff, Brian (Brooke) Kirchhoff, Christopher (Ashley) Kirchhoff, Tom (Melanie) Monson, Tim Monson, Karry (Zach) Sweeney, Tanner Boever, Lisa (Mike) Bruellman, Cole Slaikeu, Kelsey (Ryan) Sawyer, Caitlin (Brian) Kirchhoff, Allix Kirchhoff, Tristan (Madi) Jeno, Lexi Jeno, 21 Great Grandchildren, Siblings: Beverly (Marvin) Allbaugh, Bruce (Sandy) Kirchhoff, Leon (Mary) Kirchhoff and many Nieces and Nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, In Laws: Carl and Bertha Kopecky, Brother-in-law: Don Pooch, Grandson: Andrew Bauer and nephew Troy Kirchhoff.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday December 26 and the funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday December 27, both will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Beaver Twp., Humboldt, IA.
