Grace L. Schipull, 82, of Humboldt, formerly of Renwick and Hardy, passed away October 5, 2012 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Christy Ehrle officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Township Cemetery, Hardy. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Grace LaVonne Krause, the daughter of Herman and Eva (Winter) Krause, was born August 20, 1930 on a farm near Hardy, Iowa. She attended Vernon School and following her graduation, attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City. Grace was then employed by the Silbaugh family at Gunder Manufacturing and The First National Bank of Humboldt. She was united in marriage to Ray Schipull on May 25, 1952 at the Renwick Methodist Church. The couple made their home in the Hardy area where they farmed together until Ray’s death in 1980. In 1981, Grace moved to Renwick and in 1995, she made her home in Humboldt. Grace became a resident of Springvale in Humboldt in 2009, making her home in Independent and Assisted Living, and Long Term Care.
Grace was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, a past member of the Renwick Methodist Church and a past long time member of the Hardy Methodist Church. She was active in U.M.W. and the Friends of Faith. She was also a member of the Cosmo Club in Renwick, the Vernon Township High Neighbor Club, and the Grove Ladies Club, and served as the leader of the Vernon Lassies 4-H Club. She was active with volunteer work and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Grace also enjoyed embroidery and ceramics, and her collection of salt and pepper shakers numbered over 300 sets.
Grace is survived by her children, Roger (and fiancé, Sheryl Sherman) Schipull of Hardy, Dennis (Ramona) Schipull of Northwood, Glenda Carpio of Greeley, CO, Bruce (Kim) Schipull of Hardy, and Diane (Randy) Sykora of Windom, MN; 11 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Richard) Vorland of Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; daughter, Sharon McMillan; and daughter-in-law, Becky Schipull.
