Grace Ann Powers, 63, of Des Moines, passed away July 23, 2011 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Humboldt with the Rev. Lynda Bigler officiating. Interment will be in Greene Cemetery, Greene, Iowa. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday (today) at the Mason–Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Grace Ann Powers, the daughter of Victor I. and Grace (Phillips) Powers was born May 24, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa. When Grace Ann was five years old her father passed away and at the age of 10, she moved with her mother to Humboldt. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1966. She then attended Iowa State University graduating with a degree in Medical Technology in 1970. Grace Ann made her home in Des Moines and went to work for Iowa Methodist Medical Center as a Medical Technologist until her retirement at the age of 60.
Grace Ann was a member of the Urbandale Congregational Church. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid Iowa and Chicago Cubs fan. She liked to play bridge, do needle work, and enjoyed her travels which included trips to Germany and cherished the trip to Hawaii with her aged grandmother who played an important role in her life. Her family was very special to Grace Ann especially her cousins whom she had fond memories of growing up.
She is survived by her mother, Grace Hoag of Humboldt, and God Child, Anissa Groe. She was preceded in death by her father Victor I. Powers and stepfather, Rolland Hoag, Jr.
