Gregory D. Callahan

October 29, 1986 — October 31, 2020

Gregory David Callahan of Humboldt, IA, formerly of Richardson, TX, beloved son and friend, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020. He is survived by his parents, David & Sharon (Murphy) Callahan of Dallas, TX; his sister, Seanna (Callahan) Nichols and her husband, Eric Nichols of Indianapolis, IN; and extended family, David Callahan of Manson, IA, Julie Murphy Callahan of Charleston, SC, and Tim Callahan, of Granite City, IL; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the United States.

Gregory was born in Ashland, Kentucky on October 29, 1986, and grew up in Richardson, TX. He graduated from Pearce High School in 2005. Gregory then moved to Humboldt, his family’s hometown, where he worked within his local community.


Gregory knew no stranger, was gregarious and caring, and incredibly dedicated to his family. To know him was to know joy and laughter; he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was incredibly capable when it came to technology and programming. Throughout his life, Gregory defied expectations, and thrived into adulthood, teaching us all to strive against adversity, and live each day to its fullest. Gregory leaves behind a loving family who will always cherish his memory.


Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13th, at 9:00a.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held for immediate family only, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.


Donations in Gregory’s memory can be made to Shriner’s Scottish Rite Hospital. Through their expert surgical skill and extensive therapy, Gregory was given the powerful gift of mobility, all free of charge. The family would be honored to support another child in achieving their goals and fulfilling their potential, a fitting memorial to the life Gregory led.
