Harold “Harry” Reigelsberger, 88, of Humboldt, passed away March 26, 2015 at the Humboldt Care Center South. Harold , the son of John and May (Ziegler) Reigelsberger, was born August 31, 1926 in Brunswick, Missouri. Following his education, Harold served in the United States Army during World War II. On February 15, 1949, he was united in marriage to (Dorothy) Jean Reis at St. Columbkilles Catholic Church in Varina, Iowa. The couple established their grain and livestock farming operations in Pocahontas and Humboldt Counties.
Mrs. Reigelsberger passed away on March 30, 2000 and Harold continued to maintain his home on the farm. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Cattleman’s Association and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240 and Adams American Legion Post 119.
Harold is survived by his children, Delores (George) Pomeroy of Dakota City, Dale Reigelsberger of Humboldt, and Carolyn Morgan of Edina, MN; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and brother, Wayne (Imelda) Reigelsberger of Mendon, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; son, John Reigelsberger; daughter, Mary Ann Ryan; grandsons, William Reigelsberger and Tyler Lilly; and sisters, Mildred Ousley and Lauretta Quinn.
Harold enjoyed raising cattle, polka music, skydiving, watching race car races, and helping others. He was known as the man who would do anything for anybody. He was a loving and devoted husband, proud and supportive father and friend to all, and strong in his faith.
A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Father James Tigges, will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt with full military rites by Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240 and Adams American Legion Post 119. Visitation with the family will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. A Parish Rosary and Scripture Service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
