Henry “Hank” Pogge, 79, of Humboldt, formerly of Renwick, passed away March 12, 2010 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Renwick with the Rev. Lynn Noel officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Renwick. Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt and from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Renwick.
Hank is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, LaVonne of Humboldt; children, Douglas (Elsa) Pogge of Denver, CO, and David (Roxanne) Pogge of Humboldt; grandsons, Matthew and William Pogge of Humboldt; step grandchildren, Priscilla Fisher and Sandra Hoban of Colorado; brothers and sisters, Chris Pogge of Fort Dodge, John (Loraine) Pogge of Fort Dodge, Kenneth (Joyce) Pogge of Kanawha, Marcene (Ewald) Meuler of Shell Rock, and Linda (Fred) Metzger of Marquette, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Henry Marvin Pogge, the son of John and Lena (Kamp) Pogge, was born November 20, 1930 on a farm Northeast of Renwick, Iowa. He was baptized March 1, 1931 and confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Renwick on June 18, 1944. He attended country schools and graduated from Renwick High School. He was united in marriage to LaVonne Halverson on June 10, 1950 at the First Lutheran Church in Humboldt. The couple made their home on the family farm where they began their farming and livestock operations. Hank enjoyed farming until his retirement. He became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit in May of 2007. He passed away there on the morning of March 12, 2010 at the age of 79.
Hank was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he was active in church activities and on the church council.
