Herman P. Pergande, 84, of Humboldt, passed away November 17, 2015 at the Humboldt Care Center South. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation will be 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Pergande is survived by his wife, Jane of Humboldt; daughters, Jody and Julie; grandchildren, Brandy, Justin, Nick, and Jacob; 5 great grandchildren; and his brother, Elmer Pergande. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Herman P. Pergande, Jr.; three brothers; and two sister.
Herman Philip Pergande, the son of Carl and Catherine Pergande, was born July 17, 1931 at LuVerne, Iowa. He grew up working on the family farm and received his education at LuVerne. During the Korean War, Herman served with the United States Army. On November 6, 1954, he was united in marriage to Jane Marie Ehrhardt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt and the couple made their home in Humboldt.
Herman worked at the Renwick Creamery and W&H Coop before becoming the parts manager for John Deere for 18 years. He had a love of farming and in his retirement helped area farmer’s part time. He also enjoyed his work with the Reminder Newspaper and above all, loved the time he spent with his family. Herman was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
