Ivan G. Wolcott, 78, of Bradgate, passed away March 16, 2009 at the Palo Alto Regional Health Center in Emmetsburg. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation time with the family will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Wolcott is survived by his wife, Bernice Wolcott of Bradgate; children, Kent (Beth) Wolcott of Newell, Ron (Mary) Wolcott of Rolfe, and Dawn (Mike) Benjamin of Pocahontas; 7 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Jolliffe of Gilmore City. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marjorie Marchant.
Ivan G. Wolcott, the son of George and LaVelle (Godden) Wolcott, was born April 18, 1930 on a farm East of Bradgate. He attended school in Bradgate and graduated from Bradgate High School in 1948. Following his education, Ivan farmed with his father. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1950 –1954. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to continue farming. He was united in marriage to Bernice Dall on October 30, 1955 at the Bradgate United Methodist Church. The couple made their home on the family farm where they farmed together for many years. They moved into Bradgate in 1997.
Mr. Wolcott was a member of the Methodist Church. An avid sportsman, he liked watching sports on television, hunting and fishing, trapping and playing softball on the Bradgate team. He enjoyed following his children’s sporting events and time with his grandchildren, and most of all, he enjoyed his family.
