James (Jim) D. Fevold, 75, of Humboldt, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Monday morning, May 2, 2022.
He was born May 2,1947 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Dwight and Alice Neff. He was adopted at the age of 9 to Ardell and Veda (Crain) Fevold of Humboldt where he was raised and graduated from Humboldt High School, class of 1967.
Jim was drafted into the US Army where he served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 as an E5 in the Army Special Forces. After returning from the war, Jim was united in marriage on January 17,1970 to Jaqueline S. Rice. The couple made their home in Humboldt and began farming.
While still farming, Jim began working at Yacht Club Trailers until 1994 when he started with Corn Belt Power Cooperative until his retirement in 2013.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the river. In his later years, he looked forward to his winter trips with Jackie to Sanibel Island, Florida where he walked the beach hunting for his beloved seashells. Jim loved spending time with all his grandchildren giving advice, playing cards, and sharing stories of his military service.
Those who have shared in the joys of Jim’s life are his wife Jackie of 60 years of Humboldt, his sons Jared (Missy) Fevold of Saint Charles, Missouri, Justin (Cassie) Fevold of Gilmore City, his daughter Jennifer (Andrew) Trunkhill of Cody, Wyoming; brothers John (Vicky) Fevold and Darrell (Linda) Henry, sisters Julie Bethel, Alicia (Dave) Coffman, Sandra (Bill) Coulter, Patty Calvin, Pam Henry, and Freda Pearce; grandchildren Megan, Haley and Jenna Fevold; Payton and Marlo Fevold; Ty and Rashia Barrett; Egan, Caleb, and Samantha Lakin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dwight and Alice Neff and Ardell and Veda Fevold; father-in-law's Gail Rice and Ted Erickson; infant daughter Janelle Sue Fevold; and sisters Esther Marnin, Beverly Branner; brother Gary Henry; and brother in laws Chuck Bethel, Terry Rice and Bob Pearce.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4th at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3rd at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Burial with military rites by the Sathers-Odgaard American Legion will be in Indian Mound Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to KJYL Radio, Disabled American Veterans or to the discretion of the family.
