James R. Koch, 66, of Humboldt, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born September 11, 1952 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Arnould) Koch. He was raised in Davenport and graduated from Central High School. He worked for many years at Oscar Mayer in Davenport. Jim was united in marriage to Diane Kuehnast on February 14, 1982. The couple made their home Blue Grass, Iowa, later Webster City and then on the farm in Humboldt. He loved cars and worked as an auto body repair technician for Jergens Body Shop and later Troy Waller Auto Body, retiring in 2012. He enjoyed building salvage cars, loved math and he played guitar.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Kuehnast Koch, 1st cousins, Mary Woods, Sara Arnould, Mike Arnould & Jack Spring, his step-son, Troy Wohlers, step-grandchildren, Jenna Wohlers, Megan Wendel & Joseph Wendel, his step-great-grandchildren, Abree Ann Brons and Kaden Clark, his best friends, Jim Buhman & Foster Carel, his father-in-law, Leo Kuehnast and mother-in-law, Lola Kuehnast. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathy and step-son, Trevor Wohlers.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 16th with visitation after 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Memorials in Jim’s name can be directed to Almost Home Humane Society in Fort Dodge.
