James Scott White, the son of Ralph Albert and Beverly (McCurry) White, was born January 2, 1932 at Renwick, Iowa. He was raised with the help of his grandmother and aunt following the death of his mother and attended school at Renwick. Following his graduation from Renwick High School, Jim worked as a carpenter until enlisting into the United States Air Force in 1952. On July 27, 1952, while on leave, Jim was united in marriage to Donna Jean Wergeland and the couple made their home in Louisiana where Jim was stationed. Following his honorable discharge, the couple returned home and began farming. In 2000, Jim retired from farming but stayed busy with woodworking, golfing, and cribbage games with his Renwick friends and rehab buddies. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and on September 7, 2013, participated in the honor flight. Above all, Jim loved his family especially his grandchildren.
