Janice Miller, 83, of Bode passed away January 7, 2020 in her home.
Janice was born on May 6, 1936 in Iowa City to Oscar and Blanche (Gunderson) Christianson. She grew up and attended school in Bode. She had worked at Globe Union in Fort Dodge then went to La James beauty school. After beauty school she worked at a beauty shop at the Starlite Motel and later joined the beauticians in Henry’s Beauty Shop in Humboldt. In the early 80’s she started her own shop in Bode called Jan’s Cellar Shop and enjoyed doing several resident’s hair at the North Care Center in Humboldt. She still enjoyed doing hair until a few days before her passing. She enjoyed playing FreeCell, working crossword puzzles and loved reading the Bible. She went to the library often to put puzzles together and she loved to go out and shop. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends and family.
She is survived by her children Diana Johnson Aadland, Kim Johnson Sebert, Jolene Johnson, Carol Johnson and Larry Johnson, brothers Mort Christianson and Charles Christianson, sister Mary Hopping, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lee Miller, Wilbur Johnson, father of her children and brothers Robert Christianson and Jerry Christianson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery.
