She was raised on the farm and attended country school in Corinth Township. She graduated from Humboldt High School in May of 1941. On October 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to Robert Eastman at Fort Dodge. The couple made their home briefly in San Diego, California during the Second World War. Jean was employed by Gamble’s Department Store, Cody’s Grocery Store, and DeKalb Seed Corn. In their retirement, Jean and Bob continued to maintain their home in Dakota City and enjoyed many winters in Texas. Jean enjoyed playing board games, knitting, and reading. She loved coffee with her friends, eating sweets, and enjoyed camping with Bob. Above all, Jean loved the time she spent with family. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
