John R. Ellis, 61 of Humboldt, passed away on Thursday evening, September 27, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born October 10, 1956 in Fulton, New York the son of Francis J. and Elizabeth A. (Wilson) Ellis. He grew up in New York and following graduation from high school he moved to Missouri. It was there he met and was united in marriage to Vicky L. Fox on June 18, 1983. The couple enjoyed time in various places and made their homes in New York, Florida, Arizona, Alabama and Iowa. In 2011 they moved to Humboldt. John worked for numerous businesses including, Shoppers, Bomgaars, Yacht Club Trailers, drove a school bus for the Humboldt Community School District and was currently employed by Chantland HMS Company, on the second shift at their south Humboldt location. John was a devoted husband and father, loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed motorcycling, forging and working with leather.
He is survived by his wife Vicky of Humboldt, his children Denise Spencer, Lynn (Susan) Jensen and Greg (Catherine) Sorrell, his grandchildren, Ashley Spencer, Cody Spencer, Cierra Jensen, Tanner Sorrell and James Jensen, his great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Tierney, Solomon & Trevor, his mother, Elizabeth (Tom) Brady, his brothers and sisters, Francis Ellis, Anthony (Mary) Ellis, Darlene (Roger) Rose, Cindi (Alan) Ervay, Andrew (Lisa) Ellis and Nancy Ellis. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis.
