John A. Myers

John A. Myers, 83, formerly of Hardy, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

John was born October 30, 1940 in Humboldt, the son of Denton and Margaret (Ceder) Myers. He was raised on a farm near Hardy and educated in Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1959. John attended Iowa State University majoring in Ag Business. Following college, he returned to the family farm near Hardy. John married Linda M. Hanrahan on December 4, 1970 in Humboldt. Home was on the family farm near Hardy, where they raised their crops and were livestock producers. John was instrumental in developing the Winter Wonderland Ski Lodge and the Humboldt County Dragway. He held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying the Champ aircraft as a member of the Flying Wildcats. As a cattle producer, John invented and held a patent on the Myers Cow-Calf Sprayer. He served on numerous boards; The Humboldt County Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Credit Services of America, Hardy Coop Board. John served as a Humboldt County Supervisor, serving on various civic boards for sixteen years, retiring in 2005. John enjoyed restoring and collecting antique cars and tractors and he and Linda enjoyed wintering in Arizona in their retirement years.

John is survived by his wife Linda of Fort Dodge, his children Teresa (James) Moore of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, John D. “JD” (Jenni) Myers of Hardy, his grandchildren Jack & Ava, his sister Claudia (RT) Adams of Stella, North Carolina, brother Doug (Bobbi) Myers of Des Moines, and his brother-in-law Bud Marcellus of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and his sister, Carol Marcellus.
