John Schade, 68, of rural Hardy, died on May 18, 2012 at his home.  Funeral services will be held Tue. May 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt.  Visitation will be Monday May 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John C. Schade, the son of James and Catherine (Antoine) Schade, was born June 11, 1943 at Emmetsburg, Iowa.  He received his education and following his graduation from LuVerne High School in 1961, he attended Fort Dodge Community College.  John worked as a truck driver for many years and farmed from the 1970’s until his retirement in 2008.  On May 30, 1982, John was united in marriage to Linda and the couple made their home on their farm near Hardy.

John’s true love was for his grandchildren and his passion was for farming.  He loved collecting international tractors and plows and said many times, he never met a plow he didn’t like.  He also enjoyed restoring antique tractors and loved when people toured his collection.   John also served as a past president of the Iowa Chapter of the International Harvester Collectors Club.  He also loved attending tractor pulls and was a member of the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pullers and a member of the Iowa Tractor Pullers Association.

John is survived by his wife, Linda of Hardy; his children, Sue (Kenny) Smith, Deb (Lonnie) Ruberg, Eric (Jessica) Schade, and LeAnne Utt; grandchildren, Cassie (Matthew), Jerod (Shauna), Justin, Ashley, and Kainen; great grandchildren, Austin, Sammy, and Carter; brothers, Bernard and Eugene; and sister, Mariann.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Tanner Ruberg.
