Josh Henry Smith, 35, of Humboldt, passed away on Wednesday July 21, 2010 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether officiating.  Burial will be in East Beaver Cemetery, Humboldt.  Visitation is from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Josh was born on September 8, 1974.  His life was filled with laughter and his spirit defined courage and love.  He was a kind man who enjoyed making people laugh and feeling good about themselves.  Josh graduated in 1992 from Humboldt High School, attended Iowa State University, and graduated from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.  He had worked for EP2 in Des Moines, at Chantland's in Humboldt, and loved his work as an electrician for Cornbelt Power Cooperative.  An avid Cyclones fan, Josh enjoyed music, trivia games, tailgating, the theatre, and cooking for his many friends and family.  He loved spending time with his nieces, nephew, and his “little sweetie”, Kali Dodrill.
Josh is survived by his mom, Janet Smith; brothers, Lee and Adam and sisters-in-law, Missy and Jessica Smith; nephew and nieces, Gabe, Grace, Joie Tielyr, and Hayden Smith.  His Papa and Step-mom, Mike and Cindy Smith; half brothers and sister, Robert, Alex, and Audrey Smith; and his step-grandma, Joanne Owens.  Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Ethel Lee, and step-grandpa, Bob Owens.
Josh’s family would like to express their gratitude to all of Josh’s community of family and friends for their generosity, love, and support during his lengthy illness.
