Kathy K. Telford, 66, of Humboldt, formerly of Ottosen, passed away October 26, 2011 at her home in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Livermore with the Rev. Walden Paige officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Ottosen. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Kathy Kay Peddicord, the daughter of Blaine and Jean (Ready) Peddicord, was born December 23, 1944 in Dexter, Iowa. At the age of three months, the family moved to Des Moines for a short period of time then to a farm south of Gilmore City.
She graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1963. For a short time she lived in Omaha where she was employed by the Tip-Top Roller Company before briefly moving to California. She then returned to Humboldt County where she was employed by Globe Union and Lazy Ike in Fort Dodge. She then attended and graduated from Bernelles Beauty College and was employed in shops around Humboldt County.
On August 25, 1973, she was united in marriage to Larry Telford. To this union two sons were born, Blaine Dean and David Roy.
Kathy loved being a farmer’s wife; doing farm work and taking care of the livestock. She and Larry enjoyed snowmobile riding, and watching high school sports together, especially their two sons. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her son, David and his wife Abbie Telford of Ottosen; sisters, Eva (Rick) Cofer and Dixie (Robert) Otto both of Gilmore City; grandchildren, Blaine (Katie) Telford and Megan (Travis) Landolt both of Gilmore City; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; her son, Blaine Dean; and her brother, Richard Blaine Peddicord.
