Kevin Jason McCullough was born in Fort Dodge, IA on October 2, 1972, the youngest of seven children born to Gerald and Donna (Holmes) McCullough. He grew up in Livermore and received his education through the Twin Rivers School District and graduated from High School in 1991. After graduation Kevin worked for Harry’s Heating and Cooling where he acquired a great deal of his technical knowledge. He worked at W&H Co-op and had his own business (McCullough Brothers) which eventually was purchased by R&G Electric. In 2010 he began working for Hy-Capacity, where he remained for the remainder of his life. On October 13, 2001 Kevin married Sarah Bormann, and the couple took up residence on an acreage near Renwick. Kevin and Sarah welcomed three children into their home; Tyler, Kaleb, and Halle. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt and belonged to St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus.

On June 11, 2011 Kevin found out that he had Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). In November of that same year the diagnosis changed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). In April of 2012 Kevin received a bone marrow transplant, and his condition improved. In January of 2016, Kevin found that he was suffering from Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD). He entered Methodist Hospital in Rochester last month where he fought a long and hard battle.

Kevin loved to work. He worked to support his family and to help out anyone who needed it. He was never too busy to attend sports and other activities his children were involved in. He was a proud uncle to his 14 nieces and 4 nephews. He found joy in camping and playing cards. He liked to tease people he was fond of. He loved life and was the life of the party. He had empathy for others, and his enthusiasm for life was contagious. His perseverance inspired his daughter Halle to write a speech for school. He had an incredibly positive attitude during his fight against the insidious disease.
