Larry Troxel, 66, of Humboldt, passed away August 14, 2010 at his home. Graveside funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ruth of Humboldt; daughter, Bobbi (Russ) Shaw of Evansville, IN; son, Kevin (Erin) Troxel of Grimes; grandchildren, Tom and Kelly Troxel, Aaron (Lindsay) Duhachek, and Zach Shaw; great granddaughter, Paityn Duhachek; sister, Rosalie (James) Price of Lincoln, NE; half sisters, Nona (Leonard) Lohmann of Edwardsville, KS, Avis Cedarhal of Lincoln, NE, and Betty Chase of Oregon; and brother-in-law, Loren Dailey of New Market, IA.
Larry Troxel, the son of Irvin F. and Marinna (Dailey) Troxel was born November 2, 1943 on a farm near Hamburg, Iowa. As a child he made his home in the communities of Hamburg, Silver City, and Malvern before moving to Tabor following the death of his father. He graduated from high school there in 1962 and began his career in sales. Larry sold batteries and tires and was later in the fertilizer business. On June 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Ruth Calkins at Shenandoah and the couple had two children, Bobbie and Kevin. In 1976, the family moved to Humboldt where Larry briefly sold seed corn before going into equipment sales for Farm Hand Co. until 1980 when he went to work for K.C. Nielsen until his retirement on December 31, 2009.
Larry passed away peacefully on the evening of August 14th with his loving caregiver Ruth and family by his side.
