Laurel E. Worster, 95, of Bradgate, passed away March 17, 2009 at the Humboldt Care Center South. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City with interment in Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City. Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 Thursday evening at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Worster is survived by his wife, Treva of Bradgate; daughters Janice (Nate) McGuire of DeKalb, IL, Lilas (Jack) Brzuchalski of Algona, and Wanda Naeve (special friend Bob Lindberg) of Scottsdale, AZ; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Harlan Worster; sister, Bernice Enickson; and grandchildren, Brad Naeve and William Alan McGuire.
Laurel Eugene Worster, the son of LeRoy and Ida (Satern) Worster, was born August 1, 1913 on a farm near Ottosen, Iowa. He lived with his family in the Round Lake, MN area as a child before returning to the Ottosen and Bradgate area. He was united in marriage to Treva Blake on August 28, 1935 at the Methodist parsonage at Rutland. The couple began farming together in Beaver Township then in the Bradgate and Ottosen areas. In 1978, the couple retired from farming and made their home in Bradgate.
Mr. Worster was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. He had served on the elevator board for 12 years and for 17 years, he and Treva enjoyed wintering in Texas. Laurel was known as a good conversationalist. He enjoyed helping people, dancing, and camping. Above all he enjoyed time spent with is family.
