Lavonne S. Mangle

LaVonne S. Mangle, 96, of Camdenton, Missouri and native to Humboldt , Iowa passed away peacefully on August 11, 2018 at the Laurie Care Center. Visitation will be held at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home, 612 2nd Ave. Humboldt, Iowa 50548 on Thursday August 16th from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The funeral service will be held in Mason-Lindhart Chapel immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am.
LaVonne, the daughter of Guy B. Smith and Olga (Holden) Smith, was born May 1, 1922 in Dakota City, Iowa. She attended Humboldt schools and graduated from high school in 1939. LaVonne worked as a book keeper and secretary for Humboldt Schools. She also later worked as secretary for a law office and the Humboldt Trust and Savings Bank. LaVonne was united in marriage to Donald Mangle on July 18, 1948 at the Humboldt United Methodist Church. LaVonne and Don started a business in Humboldt, Mangle Plumbing Heating and Cooling. In addition, they built several homes together. After 25 years in Humboldt they moved their business to Spirit Lake in 1975 where they bought two resorts, continued to build homes and run the PHC business. In 1983 LaVonne and Don moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where Don continued to build homes while LaVonne did the accounting for the construction business. In 2001 LaVonne and Don retired to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.
LaVonne was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf, bridge, boating and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed holidays with her grandchildren. LaVonne is survived by her daughter Debra (Mangle) Reefer; Four grandchildren; Brandon Hogue, Martin Hogue, Zachary Reefer, and Anna (Reefer) Kohl; Five great grandchildren; Diana Hogue, Phoebe Hogue, Crosby Hogue, Johnie Hogue, Eva Kohl and Cleo Kohl. LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Don, her parents Guy and Olga Smith, a brother Al and daughter Diana (Mangle) Hogue.
