Lena M. Eyrich, 54 of Fort Dodge, formerly of Humboldt, passed away October 30, 2015 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Christy Ehrle officiating. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Lena is survived by her husband, Dale Eyrich of Fort Dodge; her son, Paul (Shelby) Eyrich of Fort Dodge; step-son, Darren (Sarah) Eyrich of New Ulm, MN; her father, James Hodgell of Laurens; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Alex Hodgell of North Liberty and James Hodgell of Laurens; and her sisters, Kathy Sathoff of Gilmore City, Barb Eccles of Manson, and Ellen Williams of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Hodgell; brother, Paul Hodgell; and sister, Becky Patrick.
Lena Marie Hodgell, the daughter of James and Laura (Zeman) Hodgell, was born August 1, 1961 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised around Havelock, Pocahontas and Gilmore City and graduated from Gilmore City-Bradgate High School. Following her education, Lena was employed in the Humboldt Care Centers. On August 7, 1982, she was united in marriage to Dale Eyrich at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gilmore City. The couple made their homes in the communities of Humboldt, Stanhope, Gilmore City, Bradgate, Rutland, and Fort Dodge. Lena enjoyed her work at Learn and Play Day Care and in the offices of the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Following their move to Fort Dodge, Lena was employed in Community Day Care And Preschool and Casey’s.
Lena enjoyed sewing and baking, but especially loved caring for her grandchildren and “picking’ on Dale.
