Lillian M. Longseth, 89, of Bode, passed away March 25, 2011 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode with the Rev. Steve Bliss and Larry Lemke officiating. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Bode is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Marie Schmidt was born March 23, 1922 in West Bend, Iowa to Charles and Kathryn (Krug) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to Melvin Longseth on her birthday in 1941. Lillian worked at the Imperial Café in Bode for many years before becoming an administrative assistant to Dr. R.A. Thompson.
Lillian was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for over 60 years and was very active in her church. She enjoyed the WELCA as well as helping whenever needed. Lillian turned 89 years old two days before she died. Lillian and her deceased husband would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on that day. Her husband Melvin died on June 6, 1985.
One of Lillian’s greatest passions was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching competitive sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan as well as a fan of Dallas Clark and the Colts. She had a sense of humor that everyone enjoyed.
Lillian is survived her daughter, Karen (Robert) Busick of Belmond, IA; grandchildren, Donna Busick-Bock of Des Moines, IA, Brian (Melinda) Busick of Humboldt, IA, and Julie (Eden) Cunningham of Waterloo, IA; great grandchildren, Anthony and Ciara Bock, Raeanna and Isaiah Busick and Tyson Cunningham; and sister, Rosabelle Johnson of Emmetsburg, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents, Charlie and Katie Schmidt; and her siblings, Edna Storesund, Everett Schmidt, and Harvey Schmidt,
