Linda Elaine (Benjamin) Kubly, aged 68, died peacefully on October 5th 2014, surrounded by her children at her home in Humboldt, Iowa, after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Gene Broughton and Rev. Russ Crouthamel officiating. Interment will be in Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Linda was born July 19, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Ted N. and Lillian E. Benjamin. She was raised on a farm in rural Bradgate and graduated from Gilmore City - Bradgate High School in 1964.
Linda is survived by her parents Ted and Lillian Benjamin; three children, Patricia (Scott) McPherson, Christine (Cory) Furlong, and Justin Palmer; sisters, Pamela (Vern) Nedved, Teresa (Dave) Dunn, and Marcia (Ken) Javor. She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Alexa and Morgan Noel, Samantha and Paige McPherson. She was loved dearly by her nieces and nephews. In addition, Linda is survived by her husband, John Kubly. She cherished her relationship with her step-children and step-grandchildren.
Quilting was Linda’s passion and she shared her talent with her many friends. Her involvement in Common Threads, Lake Area Quilters' Guild, Quilted Forest and Honey Bee Quilters allowed her to express and share her creativity. She retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2009 and moved from Britt to Humboldt. Linda enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, where she was active in Nimble Thimble Quilters and Hunters Run Red Hatters. Watching men's and women's college basketball was something Linda enjoyed and she was always rooting for the Hawkeyes.
