Lois M. Meyer, 78, of Humboldt, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether and Rev. Aaron Flatau officiating.  Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Humboldt.  Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday (today) at the church.  The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Lois Marie Gade, the daughter of Edwin and Alfreida (Scheppmann) Gade, was born February 13, 1933 on a farm near West Bend, Iowa.  Lois received her education at West Bend and graduated from West Bend High School.  On June 13, 1954, she was united in marriage to Paul Arnold Meyer.  Following his return from active service in the military, the couple made their home first near Ottosen before moving to a farm near Rutland.  Lois farmed with her husband there until 1985 when they made their home in Humboldt.  Mr. Meyer passed away in March of 1986 and Lois continued to maintain her home in Humboldt.  Lois worked in the food services department for the Humboldt School District and the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital until her retirement.
Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in L.W.M.L.  She loved to play cards and was a 55-year member of the Ottosen Card Club.   She enjoyed volunteering her time and following the activities of her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, reading, and baking.  She was an avid baseball fan going back to the days of her husbands Brooklyn Dodgers minor league career.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Richard) Weiss of Ames, Paula (Lance) Olson of Humboldt, and Dawn (Dan) Parle of Humboldt; grandchildren, Aaron (Kelly) Weiss, Nathan Weiss, Brian (Tricia) Weiss, Joe (Amber) Olson, Lisa (Justin) Nolting, and Jacob, Zachary, and Adam Parle; great grandchildren, Claire Olson and Cora Weiss; and her sister, Norma Kressin of Whittemore.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; brother, George Gade; and sister, Janice Struecker.
