Lori Kay (Worby) Gonzalez, 48, of Mission, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2010, due to a fatal car accident in McAllen, Texas. A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 27 at World Center Church in Mission. A funeral service will be held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode, Iowa, on Tuesday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Bode is assisting the family.
Lori was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to LeRoy and Beverly Worby on March 11, 1962. She attended Twin Rivers Community Schools in Livermore and Bode, graduating in 1980. She then attended Wartburg College, in Waverly, Iowa, graduating in 1984 with a B.A. in elementary education. Lori spent two years in Bode, substitute teaching and coaching. Wanting to experience a different culture, in 1986 she headed south for the Rio Grande Valley. Lori had since been teaching 6th grade at Leal Elementary and math at Mission Junior High School. In 1993, she married Jose Gonzalez. They have one daughter, Adriana, 15.
Left to cherish her memory are: her daughter Adriana and husband Jose of Mission, Texas; father LeRoy Worby of Humboldt; sisters Tami (Kerry) Loge of Granger and Vickie (Bob) Miller of Milford, one niece and three nephews. Lori was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.
