Lorna Loraine Stellhorn, 94, of Humboldt, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Humboldt Care Center South in Humboldt. Lorna was the first of four daughters born to Ewald and Christine (Licht) Weiss. She was born September 4, 1925 on the family farm. She attended school in Beaver Township 4 till 8th grade. She did housework for many people in Webster and Humboldt County. Her Aunt Agnes and Uncle Albert Licht took Lorna on a trip to see Elda Wiess Eilers, her sister who lived in Illinois and during that visit Lorna met Ralph Stellhorn. When Ralph returned from the service he worked for the railroad before moving to Iowa to work for his future in-laws. Ralph and Lorna were married June 18, 1954. Two daughters were born from that union, Eloise and Sylvia.
Lorna was a housewife most of her married life. She attended Zion Lutheran Church all her life, as well as teaching Sunday School for over 40 years. She did work at North Care as a cook for a short period of time.
She is survived by her daughters Eloise ‘Lois’ (David) Sampson, Sylvia Milledge, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, her step-sister Leone, sisters Bernice and Maxzine. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, stepsister Alberta Wolf and sister Elda Eilers.
Visitation will be at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt Tuesday, January 14th at 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 15th at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with burial to follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Beaver Township.
