Lowell F. Fevold

January 7, 1921 — May 17, 2018

Lowell Frederick Fevold, 97, long-time resident of the Humboldt area, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at home. Services will be 11 am Friday, June 1, 2018 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation is 5-7 pm Thursday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt with full military rites by Adams American Legion Post 119 and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240.
Lowell was born on January 7, 1921, to Bertin “BJ” and Florence (Saboe) Fevold at their farm near Badger, Iowa. He graduated from Moorland High School. After serving in World War II in North Africa, he returned to the area where he farmed with family members near Pioneer, Iowa. He married Phyllis Arlene Onnen on February 21, 1954, in Manson, Iowa. They moved and farmed near Morris, Minnesota in 1959. In 1974, they returned to the Humboldt area where he worked construction for AR Land Construction with his brothers, then with Herman Hauck Construction, and for his own business Humboldt Truss Rafters until his retirement.
Lowell enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, playing cards, tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed, playing and watching baseball (he played catcher on a semi-pro independent team in Humboldt), visiting family and friends and attending endless grandchildren’s activities. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels up until a few years ago. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Restore, Ingham Bible Camp, and at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. He participated in his family’s Turkey Bowl activities, including playing sand volleyball two years ago and dodge ball up until three years ago. Lowell was a member of Adams American Legion Post 119 and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240.
Preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Ardell (Veda) Fevold, Mary (Kenneth) Barrett, Charlene “Chuck” (Bert Cran, Emmett Wiegert) Wiegert, Rolland “Rollie” (LaDonna) Fevold, Robert (Ardis Sansgaard) Fevold; daughter-in-law Ivadelle “Ivy” (Mark) Fevold; his grandson Joseph “Joey” (BJ & Terri) Fevold, and numerous in-laws.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; his siblings Betty (Merlin) Dyvig, James (Marilyn) Fevold, and David (Mary) Fevold and several in-laws; children Paula Zillmer, Mark (Sue), Warren (Denise), Fred (Bernie), Chris, Carrie (Al) Wright, BJ (Terri), Heidi (Stan) Herndon, and Jeri (Steve) Lane; 40 grandchildren and 28+ great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Humboldt County or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
