Lucille E. Anderson, 89, of Thor, passed away May 13, 2012 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor with the Rev. Darryl Landsverk officiating. Interment is in East Ullensvang Cemetery, Thor. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Lucille is survived by her son, Larry (Mary) Anderson of Thor, and her grandson, Mark (Connie Brock) Anderson of Woolstock. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; sisters, Burnis McCutcheon, Mildred Hallagan, and Doris Sampson; and her brothers, Clifford DeWinter and Lurman DeWinter.
Lucille Evelyn DeWinter, the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Thompson) DeWinter, was born September 17, 1922 on a farm near Vincent. As a child, her family made their home on various farms in the area and Lucille attended country schools. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School with the class of 1940. On May 31, 1941, she was united in marriage to Clarence Anderson at Bethany, Missouri. The couple made their home on the Anderson farm most of their married lives until moving to Thor in 1990. Clarence passed away in January of 2004 and shortly after, Lucille became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North.
Lucille was an active member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church where she served on the Alter Guild, quilted, and was a member of Sarah Circle. Known as a meticulous seamstress, Lucille enjoyed creating wedding and prom dresses and making clothing for herself and her family.
