Lyle R. Riedinger, 88, of Humboldt, passed away August 18, 2008 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Humboldt.  Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.  Interment will take place on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Mr. Riedinger is survived by his sons, Don Riedinger of Humboldt, Randy (Diane) Riedinger of Ohio, Eric Riedinger of Ankeny, and Ron Riedinger of West Virginia; grandchildren, Melissa, Ben, Chris, and Laura; great grandchildren, Alexandria, Drake, Nicholas, and Julia; and his sister, Carol Eckelberg of Spraugville.  He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen; second wife, Edna; sister Merigean; and brothers, Harry and Alan.
Lyle R. Riedinger, the son of Clem and Opal (Griffin) Riedinger, was born July 16, 1920 at Maquoketa, Iowa.  He was raised and educated at Maquoketa and graduated in the class of 1937.  He attended Iowa State University where he received his agriculture teaching degree and taught in the school districts of Grinnell and Belle Plaine.  He was united in marriage to Helen May Strong in 1947 and to this union four sons were born.  He then went to work for the department of agriculture as a soil conservationist in the communities of Osceola, Sibley, and Algona until his retirement in 1980.  Helen passed away in 1974 and in 1980, Lyle was united in marriage to Edna Fowler and the couple made their home at Humboldt.  Edna passed away in October of 2001.
