Lynette V. Davis, 88, of Fort Dodge, passed away November 10, 2014 at the Fort Dodge Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Rolling Hills Community Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is handling the arrangements.

Lynette Vendella Sundeen, the daughter of Theodore and Lillian (Nelson) Sundeen, was born June 7, 1926 at Albert City, Iowa. As a child, Lynette made her home with her family in Albert City and Minnesota before moving to Humboldt. She received her education at Humboldt where she excelled at singing and was selected for the Belcanta Choir during her freshman year of High School. On June 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Richard Steven Davis on the farm near Albert City that had been homesteaded by her great-great grandparents. The couple farmed south of Humboldt until 1951 when they moved to Fort Dodge. Lynette worked in retail for over 40 years including Wretmans Toys, Charles A. Brown Clothing, and the Kids Cottage. In 1995, she and Richard moved to Humboldt. Richard passed away in 1996 and in 1997, Lynette returned to Fort Dodge.

In later years, Lynette was active in Congregate Meals. She was a member of Rolling Hills Community Church. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, playing cards, and loved to sing for weddings and funerals. She especially loved children and took great pride in being a Foster Grandma at Cooper Elementary in Fort Dodge.

Lynette is survived by her sons, Dennis (Sharon) Davis of Brewer, ME, and Kevin (Julie) Davis of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Nathan (Casey) Freeman, Nicole (Richard) Myles, Chelsey Davis, Kyle Davis, and Gregory Davis; 5 great grandchildren, Madison and Ellie Freeman and Tucker, Storey, and Taylor Miles; brothers, Donald Sundeen of California and Dale Sundeen of Colorado; sisters, LaVonne Benjamin of Colorado; several nieces and nephews including Cheryl Sundeen Bergen of Clear Lake whom she helped raise. Lynette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and brother, Durward Sundeen.
