Lynne was born in Jamieson, Oregon on July 14, 1923 to Alice and Eric Johnson. She graduated from Huntington High School in Huntington, Oregon in 1940. On December 7, 1941, Lynne went to California and worked at the Douglas Aircraft Plant as a “Rosie The Riveter” for the war effort. While in California she met her future husband, George Lee. They were married on July 31, 1945. Later that year, they moved to Kansas where Lynne and George became parents of their two children, Georgia and Bob. Later, the Lee family moved to Milford, Iowa and then to Humboldt, Iowa in 1951. Humboldt would become Lynne’s home for the next 65 years. Lynne spent many hours following George while he played in numerous golf tournaments around the state. They also traveled to the West quite often to visit Lynne’s family. Lynne enjoyed her hometown and its garage sales.
She was an avid bridge player and would always be up for a game of Shanghai Rummy with her friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching golf and other sports on TV. However, what Lynne loved the most was time spent with her grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. She often referred to them as her 5 Sweethearts! Lynne was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church in Humboldt.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Georgia, and son-in-law, Jim of LeMars, and her son, Robert “Bob”, and daughter-in-law, Jane of Humboldt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan (Cindy) Rohlfsen of Chicago, IL, Matthew (Dorotha) Rohlfsen of Omaha, NE, Amy (Darren) Schlapkohl of Urbandale, IA, Jenna (Monte) Merz of Lakewood, CO, and Nathan (Barbie) Lee of Polk City, IA; great grandchildren, Cameron and Jordyn Rohlfsen, Ellie, Owen, and Max Schlapkohl, Sadie and Wyatt Merz, and Ava Farris; and step great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Raven, and Nolan Christianson. In addition, she is survived by one brother, Bruce (Mary) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Maxine Johnson and Kathryn Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee; her parents; four sisters, Sylvia, Neva, Shirley, and Allie; four brothers, Johnny, Orville, Dewey, and Roger; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elsie and Elmer Lee; and sister-in-law, Janey Riddle.
Lynne will be greatly missed as she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
