Marcele M. Allen, 89, of Humboldt, passed away on Wednesday evening, January 12, 2022 at Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines.
She was born November 21, 1932 in Garner, Iowa, the daughter of Leland and Florine (Medlin) Leach. She grew up in the Garner and Floyd area, graduating from Orchard High School in 1950. Marcele was united in marriage to Edward D. Allen on March 20, 1951 in Osage, Iowa. The couple made their home in northern Iowa, residing mostly in Charles City and Storm Lake where they raised their family. In 1971 they moved to Humboldt. Marcele was the co-owner and manager of Humboldt Springs Water, was active in the United Congregational Church and its Women’s Group, Eastern Star as a past Worthy Grand Matron, Business and Professional Women and Bridge Club.
She is survived by her husband Ed of Humboldt, her children Marcia (Brian) Johnson of Mansfield, Texas, Richard (Diane) Allen of Humboldt, Mike (Nancy) Allen of Grimes, Doug (Gwen) Allen of Mansfield, Texas and Randy (Susan) Allen of Humboldt, her grandchildren Michele, Kristine, Jessie, Nick, Jason, Justin, Joey, Billy, Donna, Hilary, Natalie, Heidi, Jenni, Amber and Aimee, 29 great-grandchildren, her brother Larry (Karen) Leach of Pueblo, Colorado and her sister Vivian Andregg of Waukon. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Andy, brother Roger Leach and her grandson Christopher Lee.
Private family burial will be held at Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Plans are being made for a public memorial in the spring. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
