At an early age, her family moved to Humboldt where her parents ran the Humboldt Ice and Locker plant. Marian graduated from Humboldt High School in 1947 and that same year married Keith Sayers.
In 1951, the couple moved to the Sayers family farm in Beaver Township southeast of Humboldt where they farmed and raised their family. Marian was homemaker and full-time farm partner. Keith and Marian moved to town in 1998, and following Keith’s death in 2001, Marian continued living in her home until moving to Springvale Independent Living for a short time and then to Humboldt Care Center North, where she has lived the last 5+ years.

She played for countless weddings and funerals over the years, and made many wedding cakes for local couples.
Her activities at Faith United Methodist Church included member and president of United Methodist Women and member of board of trustees and staff-parish relations committee. Marian was elected twice to the General Conference of the United Methodist Church, and was selected as an Iowa Master Farm Homemaker in 1979.
The Keith and Marian Sayers family was presented the Humboldt County Family Tradition Spirit Award in 2009.
