Marilyn K. Hankins, 74, of Aurora, CO, formerly of Humboldt, passed away March 31, 2014 at her home in Aurora. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Fr. James Tigges, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery near Lizard Lake. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Marilyn Kay Hankins, the daughter of Clifford and Viola (Otteson) Hankins, was born April 9, 1939, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The oldest of three children, Marilyn was raised on the family farm in Humboldt County until they moved to Dakota City. She received her education at St. Mary’s School and graduated from Humboldt High School.
Marilyn received airline training in Chicago and went to work for United Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia. She married John Longnecker and to this union a daughter, Johnna, was born. The marriage was later dissolved and Marilyn transferred with United to Denver until her retirement after 40 years of service.
Marilyn enjoyed bowling and airplane history. She loved to travel, genealogy and family history.
