Marion G. Larson

Marion G. Larson, 82, of Humboldt, passed away February 16, 2016 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Larson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Larson of Humboldt; his three children, Lynn McGee of Des Moines, Kay (Tracy) Glawe of Allen, TX, and Paul Larson of Hardy; his sister, Blythe Edge of Humboldt, his brothers, Don (Eunice) Larson of Livermore, and Gerald (Cheryl) Larson of Algona; grandchildren, Collin McGee, Sam and Sarah Glawe, Tyler and Kaitlin Larson; step-granddaughter, Holly (David) Birkey; and great granddaughter, Audra Birkey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Helen (Clancy) Larson; sister, Carolyn Larson; and brother-in-law, Edwin Edge.
Marion Gilbert Larson, the son of Loyd and Helen (Clancy) Larson, was born January 24, 1934 at Hardy, Iowa. He attended grade school and high school at LuVerne, graduating with the class of 1952. Marion attended Iowa State University before entering the United States Army in 1954. After being stationed in Ludwigsburg, Germany for nearly two years, he returned home to farm. He enjoyed farming and especially loved feeding cattle.
On January 19, 1957, he was united in marriage to Nancy Will at the LuVerne United Methodist Church. To this union three children were born, Lynn, Kay, and Paul.
Marion was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240 of Dakota City and Viona Masonic Lodge #538 of Renwick. He enjoyed “coffee” and golfing with his friends as long as he was able. He and Nancy recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary together.
