Mark David Helle, the son of Albert J. and Verna (Barber) Helle, was born August 8, 1953, in Algona, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Dakota City graduating from Humboldt High School with the “Class of 1971”.
On September 20, 1975, Mark was united marriage to Sharon K. Haugland at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. They made their home on a farm south of Humboldt before moving into Humboldt. In 1999, Mark and Sharon moved to Dakota City.
Mark worked for Design Homes for 5 years, Hawkeye Leisure Trailers for 25 years and Chantlands for 12 years, retiring in 2019. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, enjoyed bowling league, camping, fishing and canoeing but most of all spending time with family. Mark loved children and animals having dogs and cats for many years.
Mark passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 68 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Katie and brothers, Eugene and Bruce and his brother-in-law, Charles Cran.
Mark is survived by his wife, Sharon Helle of Dakota City; daughter, Lacey (DeMarcus) Foy of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Darius, Shanise, A’Tayla and Kentrell; sisters, Karen Cran of Warroad, Minnesota and Sue (Frank) Bringleson of Curlew; brothers, Michael (Charlene) Helle of Sacramento, California and Gregory (Robin) Helle of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sisters-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s, Julie Helle of Portland, Oregon, Alice Helle of Johnston, Karen (Howard) Ball of Moorland, Teresa Beebe (Bob Abens) of Dakota City, Gail (Mike) Newell of Fort Dodge and Shelly (Dennis) Goodell of Gilmore City, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Mason Lindhart Funeral and Cremation Services in Humboldt. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery in Bode.
