Marlene E. Ferry, 86, of Hardy, passed away on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Humboldt Care Center North with her husband by her side.
She was born December 1, 1936, in Westhope, North Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Flora (Campbell) Lesmann. Following her education, she moved to Minot, North Dakota and worked as a waitress for a time before relocating to Oregon. Marlene met Leonard T. Ferry and they were united in marriage in November of 1961. The couple made their homes over the years between North Dakota and Iowa, living in Fort Dodge, Des Moines and in 2000 settling in Hardy. She worked for a number of years at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, enjoyed crafting and painting lady bugs on rocks that were popular at local garage sales.
She is survived by her husband Leonard of Hardy, step-son Kenneth Kent of Tacoma, Washington, her sister Helen (Larry) Engels of Plaistow, New Hampshire and her brothers Albert and Donald Lesmann both of Westhope, North Dakota, James (Arlene) Lesmann of Maxbass, North Dakota and Freddy Lesmann of Bottineau, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17th at Indian Mound Cemetery in Humboldt with the Reverend Cris Decious officiating. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements.
