Marshall Nemechek, 73, of Humboldt, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
Marshall Edward Nemechek, the son of Lyle E. and Daisy E. (Lee) Nemechek, was born on March 27, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Lehigh, graduating from Central Webster in 1966. Marshall entered the United States Air Force in 1967, serving nearly eleven years before his honorable discharge. He also served in the Iowa Army National Guard in Fort Dodge for nine years. Marshall received his Associate’s Degree in Industrial Electronics from Iowa Central Community College. He began a thirty-plus-year career as an electrical engineer for Chantland M.H.S. in 1979 and retiring in 2010. On July 15, 1970, Marshall was united in marriage with Susanna Rae Kenner in Santa Maria, California.
Marshall served on the Industrial Electronics Board of ICCC – helping build and create the curriculum of the I.E.T. program, as the industry changed. He was also a member of the Humboldt Rotary Club. After retiring, Marshall enjoyed fixing things around the house and playing video games, which were taught and encouraged by his grandsons.
Marshall is survived by his wife Susanna; son Ken Nemechek (Shannon) of Pawnee, IL; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lila Glockl (Joe) of Garwin, brother, Mike Nemechek (Deb) of Laurel and lifelong friend, Dean Long. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean Nemechek; grandson, Clayton and infant great-grandson, Zeke.
Visitation will be Friday, October 22, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at McGuire Bend United Brethren Church in Dayton (3138 McGuire Bend Road). Burial with military honors will be in the McGuire Bend Cemetery.
